Midlife Women! Join us in Mum's Midlife Crisis this year - It's Going To Be Great!
We are moving into 2025 with a new sense of focus and ideas. And also, a teensy bit of silliness. All midlife women are welcome.
Shitting heck, will you look at the date?
I can’t believe it is the 30th of December already. Is it me, or do the years all blend into one when you get to midlife?
What kind of a year have you had?
We are into the last 48 hours of 2024, and it’s been an eventful year. From the boyfriend moving in and being accepted by my kids to the passing of my Dad, it’s been emotional.
Couple that with the steep decline in my pay packet as the cost-of-living crisis continued to hit many non-essential businesses (like dog behaviourists). It’s been feckin tough, if I’m honest.
But I’m a stubborn cow and refused to quit. Despite the challenges, I've shown resilience and determination. Proper jobs are for everyday people, so I began exploring new avenues while I had time.
My Career in 2024
My career is heading in new and exciting directions. I’m still working with the doggos but have studied during the quieter periods. I aim to become a clinical behaviourist in 2026, so I will do much more study this year. (I am currently an accredited behaviourist.)
I’m giving some paid talks to other dog pros about my Fun Not Fear® initiatives that involve caring for BOTH ends of the lead to get a better outcome for the dog, which I kicked off this year and will continue to do next year.
I also now do dog sitting for the more anxious and unleavable members on my books so their humans can have a well-earned break.
I began writing in earnest. I dabbled with fiction for a little while, and while it was fun, it was a non-starter, at least for now. Spreading yourself too thin always results in scraping. So this year is all about Mum’s Midlife Crisis, The Happy Dog Journal and Fun Not Fear® and my next book, “The Fun Not Fear® Club II - The Dog Parents,” which will be available for pre-order very soon.
has been invaluable in teaching me all about SEO and how to attract attention to my work. Because of her, my writing career has started to grow. I suggest anyone who would like to write for a living give her a look.2025 for Mum’s Midlife Crisis
I finally know which direction MMC is headed. I spent most of last year writing here, observing what stuck and what people cared about and didn’t. This year, I plan to make the whole thing more useful to you readers.
MMC will remain a free publication, but if you want to support me, I would be super grateful. Your support means the world to me, and you can do so here:
Women’s Health
A recent diagnosis of Adenomyosis led to me looking at women’s overall health and emotional experience in more depth, and I will be sharing what I learn right here in MMC with you folks this year.
Midlife women experience physical and emotional ups and downs as their bodies change and start seeing themselves differently. While medical information is easy to find online, it seems cold, clinical, and lacking in depth about our feelings. Let’s chat about it openly here.
Home and Family
Sure, it may well be a bit sexist to assume that all women love to read about home and family. I know many couldn’t think of much worse to read about. That is fair enough and very understandable. I also know men may like to read about these things, too. I don’t aim to exclude anyone or make anyone feel annoyed; I’m just writing about the things I know about in my own life.
I love my home and family, and I want to share vegan recipes, cleaning tips, cute pet pics, ideas on navigating family politics, holidays and socially awkward words for things like sanitary towels (my partner calls them “feminine hygiene products,” which I find hilarious) and giggle about the shit pit that is my son’s bedroom.
So I will be writing about these things.
Solopreneur businesses and writing
Yep, I know. The world and their aunty all write about writing and business. But, many women our age are emerging from the shackles of motherhood or looking at what is left of our working life and wondering what they want to do with it and how to make it count somehow.
I’m not going to pretend to be some guru, as I’m just a baby writer, and my business has had more than its share of ups and downs. I can’t make you rich, but I would like to share my journey and anything I find helpful that may benefit you on the way.
Let’s have a midlife crisis together!
If you have any tips and ideas in these areas I’d love to hear them!
All the best for 2025,
Freya xx

Because if you are anything like me, I know how nosey you all are 🤣 .
*I will occasionally include affiliate links for products that worked for me, which might earn me a small commission. You do not have to click on them, but a woman must stay in coffee. Supporting me this way will not cost you anything extra, and you could nab yourself a bargain.
